Video Explains How Humans Will Colonize Mars

mars one, mars, space, xtraneusMars needs colonists! At least that’s what the organization called Mars One seems to be saying in this recruitment video. Somehow I missed this video when it was published a few months ago, but I thought I’d share it here anyway. In case you haven’t heard, the Mars One Project is a not-for-profit organization based in the Netherlands, and it plans to establish a human colony on Mars in 2023. I have to be honest – I didn’t do a lot of research on this plan, so I don’t know how legitimate this is, but it sure looks cool. Whether this is an actual project or just a hoax, this video is still cool to watch.

According to the video, in 2023, four people will land on Mars, and then another group of colonists will join them every two years. Is this for real? I’m not sure, but take a look at the video and see what you think.

Guiana Space Center (2007) - Vincent Fournier

While the science and technology of space exploration is complex and hard to comprehend sometimes, the sheer beauty of it is astounding. French photographer, Vincent Fournier has made it his life’s work to capture images of space programs around the world and document them in his book The Final Frontier. I love the stark beauty in his photos of machines, space-related equipment and man-made structures. These images are from his book, and others can be found at Core 77.
